What does allergy tested and 100% fragrance free mean?
All Clinique products are allergy tested. Allergy tested means they have been clinically tested by a medical research organization, under the supervision of dermatologists. Using repeat-insult tests, 7,200 applications of a product are applied under closed patches on 600 people. If anyone in the test group demonstrates allergic contact dermatitis, the Clinique product is not released for manufacture. One other note - fragrance is a major cause of sensitivities, so you should choose a product, like Clinique, that is fragrance-free. |

Are Clinique products non-acnegenic?
All Clinique products that remain on the face (makeup, moisturizers and sun products) undergo acnegenicity testing. This is a test to ensure that our products do not cause breakouts or clog pores. This test is conducted on human volunteers who have a propensity for breakouts. We do not perform comedogenicity testing since the use of animals is part of the testing protocol. Clinique offers several products that are oil-free and non-acnegenic. Please let us know if you are interested in skin care or makeup or both and we will be happy to offer oil-free suggestions. Animal Testing
Clinique does not test our products on animals, nor do we ask others to test on our behalf. We use very few animal ingredients; the few that we use are by-products of the U.S. animal food industry. Why do I need more exfoliation?
Every skin can benefit from exfoliation, which is the process of removing spent skin cells. Exfoliation is like exercise for the skin and, as with exercise, you build up gradually. It is important to use more than one kind of exfoliation (like in exercise, you do different exercises to work different muscles) as different types of exfoliation provide different benefits. Clarifying Lotion applied with a cotton ball, sweeps debris away, improves skin clarity, and paves the way for your moisturizer. Total Turnaround products, in a lightweight cream or lotion, stay in contact with the skin longer, penetrates, and by continuously breaking the bonds that hold dull, worn cells in place, rids skin of dullness, coarseness, and muddiness. Clinique's grainy scrubs (for example, 7 Day Scrub Cream) de-flake, clear pores, and polish skin, refining texture and minimizing the appearance of fine lines and pores.
In general, you want to use the Clarifying Lotion twice a day, a Total Turnaround product once a day and a grainy scrub when needed. |

Blackheads
Blackheads typically develop when excess oil becomes trapped in pores and oxidizes, causing a dark colour. The best way to address blackheads is to prevent them. Although no single product will help prevent blackheads from totally occurring, use of a good skin care system, such as CLINIQUE'S 3-STEP SKINCARE SYSTEM, will keep skin meticulously clean, along with appropriate oil-free makeup products, should help. At night, always use a makeup solvent prior to your FACIAL SOAP to insure all traces of makeup are effectively removed from the skin.
You should limit the use of oily moisturizers to areas that are dry only. Again, if skin is oily, Clinique believes you do not need to add another layer of oil to protect skin from moisture loss. Your natural oil is doing that job. If your oilier areas need moisture, use an oil-free formula like the MOISTURE IN-CONTROL.
Increased exfoliation will help dislodge the build up of oil in the pores. Regular use of a grainy scrub such as 7 DAY SCRUB CREAM RINSE-OFF FORMULA will help polish skin and dislodge clogging. Also, once a day usage of the TOTAL TURNAROUND VISIBLE SKIN RENEWER will help. Total Turnaround is an exfoliating product helps loosen the bonds between dead skin cells so they can be more easily removed. In turn, this helps reveal fresher, healthier looking skin and aids in preventing clogging.
Since excess oil is usually what causes blackheads, for the oilier areas of your face, use the PORE MINIMIZER T-ZONE SHINE CONTROL. Pore Minimizer T-Zone Shine Control is a cream-gel that helps reduce shine and oiliness in the t-zone area. Helps to immediately reduce oil and shine which in turn helps provide a smooth finish. Continued use keeps oily areas shine-free and matte. |

How to minimize pores
Pore size is a concern for many women of all skin types and ages. Increased exfoliation along with pore minimizing treatment can help provide the skin with a smoother texture and provide a more flawless finish.
To help minimize the appearance of pores, use Clinique's PORE MINIMIZER REFINING LOTION. It specifically targets the pore size by strengthening the pore wall with a complex of ingredients that help boost the collagen and elastin production in the skin to provide a firmer texture to the skin for better support and a fine pore wall. A blend of natural ingredients help rebuild the moisture barrier so pores are stronger and healthier. A mild exfoliant helps keep pores cleaner withich helps make them less apparent.
The PORE MINIMIZER INSTANT PERFECTOR, a lightly tinted oil-free, lightweight lotion that camouflages the look of pores and gives the skin a smooth matte finish. Its unique technology helps to smooth the pore surface leaving your skin with a flawless finish. The two sheer shades provide coverage for any skin tone and can be applied under or over makeup for a long wearing smooth finish. For the best results, apply Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector after all other skincare products but before your sunscreen and makeup. Using your fingertips, smooth a small amount over any areas with visible pores such as the nose, forehead and chin. It can also be used over your entire face. Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector can be worn alone and under or over foundatio/powder. Foundation can be applied immediately after application, no need to wait. These tow products help provide a smooth, refined finish to the skin.
Often pore size can be more apparent when the skin oily and has a shine. If this is a concern, apply as needed throughout the day over makeup, Clinique's PORE MINIMIZER T-ZONE SHINE CONTROL. This oil-free, cream/gel treatment helps reduce shine and oiliness on the T-zone or whereever you see shine on your face. Its special blend of powders help absorb oil and provides a matte finish, minimizing the look of pores. You'll love how cool and refreshed your skin will feel. For maximum oil controlling benefits, apply before makeup.
For drier to combination/normal skins, we recommend using the Pore Minimizer Refining Lotion along with the Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector.
Oilier skins will receive best results by using all three products together for a multi-treatment/camouflage approach. Use as follows:
3 Step Skincare System (clean skin)
Pore Minimizer Refining Lotion (treatment to reduce the look of pores)
Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector (concealer to camouflage pores)
Pore Minimizer T-Zone Shine Control (throughout the day to control oil and shine) |

Melasma, Chloasma, pigmentation
Studies have shown that years of sun exposure and hormonal changes may result in areas of discolouration on your face. To promote a more even skin tone, increased exfoliation is the first step. Start with the TOTAL TURNAROUND VISIBLE SKIN RENEWER to allow deeper more uniform layers of your skin to show through.
Also, using Clinique's ADVANCED STOP SIGNS twice a day will greatly help as well as it's specifically designed to target lines and dark spots on the skin. Its complex of ingredients and botanicals helps to disperse the appearance of visible pigment clusters on your skin. It also lessens the look of lines and wrinkles, and helps prevent future visible damage caused by the environment.
Also, it's important to note that the dark areas on your skin actually act as a magnet to the sun's rays. Due to this, wearing a sun protection factor of at least a 15 under your makeup everyday is a MUST. A good one to use is the SUPER CITY BLOCK SPF 25. It's formula is oil-free, lightweight and long-wearing. Plus, it_s natural-looking, and will feel comfortable on your skin.
To help camouflage the discolouration on your face, use a concealing makeup to help hide dark areas. A maximum coverage makeup to try is the CONTINUOUS COVERAGE MAKEUP SPF 15. Physicians recommend Continuous Coverage as a camouflage makeup to conceal scars, skin discolourations, tattoos, and birthmarks. If your skin is oily, you may prefer the oil-free and long wearing matte finish of the ADVANCED CONCEALER for camouflage instead. |

Prevent facial lines
Dermatologist agree that 90 percent of all skin aging is caused by sun exposure (deliberate and incidental). To prevent future lining and damage on your face use City Block SPF 15 or Super City Block SPF 25 every day. They combine physical sun block protection with protection from environmental irritants. Both are oil-free, lightweight, long-wearing, natural-looking, and comfortable on the skin. Just choose the level of protection that is right for your needs. Remember - the higher the SPF, the greater the protection. |
